In the client feature posts, I would like you to meet some of the amazing brands I get to work with through my lifestyle product photography side of business. Next up is Courtney from Alpy Baby.

Tell us who is behind Alpy Baby?

My name is Courtney, and I am the brand owner of Alpy Baby! I’m originally from the midwest (Chicago!) but currently live in New York with my husband who is originally from Queens. I am obsessed with cute things that are probably meant for little kids. I used to teach high school math at a public school in Queens, NY before starting my journey in becoming my own boss. Even though I’m no longer in the classroom, I’m still very passionate about education and can talk about it for hours. Teaching is what made me realize how much I loved creating something. We had to make our own lessons at our school and I actually loved it. My love for designing & creating, combined with love for cute, small things led me to opening Alpy Baby!

Tell us more about the Alpy Baby brand.

Alpy Baby is a New York based minimalist clothing brand for babies up to 3 years old. We focus on creating products that encourage simple lifestyles with the softest natural fabrics! Our goal is to be able to provide you with minimalist, modern wardrobe essentials for your little one’s closet at an affordable price. We believe that your baby is already adorable as they are so we focus on designing outfits that are simple. Our desire is to naturally enhance their cuteness without cluttering their closet!

What inspired you to start your business?

Growing up under entrepreneurial parents (both my parents own their own business!) I knew I always wanted to become my own boss one day. When I was teaching, I realized how much I loved creating things. My mind is full of new ideas and I’m always thinking of how to improve existing products. This gave me the desire to create my own brand because it would allow me the creative freedom to try anything I wanted.

What problems is your business solving for your clients?

When shopping for baby clothes, we did not see many that were minimalist or modern in style. We wanted to create beautiful products from natural fabrics that are also affordable for the modern parents. Our brand focuses on designing simple wardrobe essentials that are really easy to wear. You’ll be able to mix & match our pieces with anything you already own!

What are the top 3 things you learned since you are your own boss.

1. There are so many aspects of owning a business. You are always discovering new things you need to work on! There’s barely enough time to do everything you want to do and you’re constantly learning new skills. 2. Everyone is so supportive and encouraging of you becoming your own boss! My family and friends, or even new people I meet are so curious about my business and willing to support me in any way they can. 3. Something you don’t expect always comes up and you have to learn to be extremely flexible in various situations. There can be many challenging circumstances that you did not foresee, but you’ll overcome them and things will be okay!

Why are good branding/product images important for you (your brand)?

Images are everything when you own an online retail/business! Our customers don’t have an opportunity to see the products in person so what they see online is what causes their purchase decisions. Great images are what we have to rely on to show our customers what our products all about! Bad quality photos would not do a good job of showcasing our beautiful pieces.
